Krešimir Lončar (born February 12, 1983 in Split, Croatia, is a Croatian professional basketball player. He is 6 ft 10¾ in (2.10 m) in height and weighs 231 pounds (105 kg). He plays both the power forward and center positions. Currently he is a member of the professional team BC Khimki Moscow Region (Russian Basketball Super League). He is playing already in his 5th year in Russia.

Pro career

Lončar won with UNICS Kazan the Russian Cup in 2009 and was also named the MVP. UNICS Kazan ended up 3rd of the 2009/2010 Russian Superleague season. He just signed a 2-year-deal with BC Khimki Moscow Region. In his first season with BC Khimki he was selected to play the All Star Game 2011. In April 2011 BC Khimki Moscow Region won the championship of VTB United League and Krešimir was voted the best power forward of the tournament.

Croatian national team

Lončar is also a member of the Croatian national basketball team with which he played the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the Eurobasket 2009 in Poland. Both at the Olympics and the Eurobasket Croatia ended up 6th. Therefore they are directly qualified for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey where Lončar is also part of the Croatian national team. The team will play the Eurobasket in 2011 in Lituania.
